Jo is an extremely talented and dedicated horsewoman across a range of disciplines.
Jo grew up in the hills of Victoria and began riding at an early age. Jo originally focussed on show jumping but also turned her hand at eventing, mounted games, stock horse challenges, dabbled in showing and even attempted steer riding. Jo successfully represented Victoria at the National Championships in show jumping. During this time she started riding track work and then took out her jockey licence where she had a handful of wins.
Jo moved to New Zealand to pursue a career in thoroughbred however during this time she met her now partner Dylan Ferguson and from there her love for Harness Racing grew. Jo is now a successful public harness trainer herself. Her accolades include training a winning treble at Cambridge Raceway with only three horses in work. Jo also runs Track Chat NZ which focuses on promoting the harness industry in a positive light. Jo loves the standardbred breed for its willingness to learn and versatility. She has ridden and rehomed numerous Standardbreds over the years. Jo regularly competes in the Anything but Standard challenge and also put together the ‘Battle of the Breeds’ competition for Cambridge Raceway.
