Sam is located in Ramarama, a small rural town South of Auckland City. Sam has had lifelong experience in the saddle. She spent nearly 10 years in the Thoroughbred industry riding track work for various trainers.
Sam has her own equestrian business- S J O’Reilly Equestrian where she schools, re-educates and re-homes retired Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds. Sam is a genuine allrounder. Schooling and educating horses is a real passion for her but she also loves showing and eventing. Sam competed in the first Battle of the Breeds- Standardbred vs Thoroughbred competition.
Sam is excited to integrate her own business with the HERO team to showcase the Standardbred horse. “I would like to prove that this breed is just as capable and willing in all disciplines as any other sport horse.” Sam has been producing her own off the track Standardbred for the past year and a half and would like to continue to do her bit for the racing industry.
