Mother/Daughter duo Kerry and Faith Blakemore from Driftwood Sport Horses- here’s what they have to say.
“Hi I’m Kerry and have been riding horses most of my life. I have my Equine Management Level 1 & 2 and I live and breathe horses-it’s something in my soul. I have competed in eventing, show jumping and showing but now focus solely on dressage. I previously worked for a well known Standardbred trainer and have also worked pre-training Thoroughbreds. I am a qualified Equine Myofunctional Therapist working on horses all around the Canterbury region. In my spare time I love to ride my OTTB DSH Bugzie who I have owned for the past 2 years, and is my world! I also have a passion for training horses straight from the track as well as rehabbing and rehoming horses. My other favourite things in my world are my two amazing teenagers. my pets, watching true crime docos and cheesecake, because we all need a bit of sweetness in our lives.”
“Hi I’m Faith, I am 17 and have been riding since I was 2. I started my competition career in showing on lead rein ponies at age 4. I progressed to eventing and then eventually found showjumping as my passion. On average I have 3/4 horses of my own in work. My current superstars are Dangermouse NZPH a 15.1hh 10yr WB gelding by Kanon who’s main job is showjumping. Fiachra is a 17hh Grey 14yr gelding by Coalman’s Touch, known as Dillon at home, he loves his RTR and hunting but can also turn a hoof to showjumping. Apart from my own team I also ride the off the track horses that we get for rehoming and ride the schoolers and sale on behalf horses that come through our equestrian business. Horses are my passion and my lifestyle- I could not imagine doing anything else!”
